I had just hit the Publish button for my previous post, and I went on to check my email. Lo and behold! I received an email consisting of a personal invitation to submit an essay in Literary Mama’s anthology on mothering across cultures!
Talk about the moon falling in your lap. To be honest, I was actually a little ’stuck’ with that essay. It’s another one of those pieces that require me to delve into the subject matter and reflect and ponder about it more. I don’t actually know what my true feelings are about raising my children in an environment that is suffused with the American culture while trying to keep our Malay culture somewhat intact. However, from today’s surfing and comments to someone’s post on the matter, I have been given some food for thought about it, which would help me to develop my first draft.
And with this surprise email, my motivation to continue working on the essay is increased. I replied to the email affirming my interest. So I guess now, I’d better start crackin’!
